This root actually is the beautiful, gold color that its moniker suggests. Popularly mixed with echinacea, it can also be used on its own, both internally and externally. Goldenseal has quite a long history in this country; pioneers recorded using it in the 1500s after the Native Americans taught them how to chew it.
